Where these numbers come from.
Short version: the primary record over the summary, the standard over the sales sheet, and we tell you when the answer depends on your jurisdiction instead of pretending a web page is authoritative.
Three kinds of question, three kinds of source.
Where a claim exists only in a contractor’s own material, we say so on the page rather than dressing it up as something checked.
Licence and credential
The CSLB licence master file and the CAL FIRE Office of the State Fire Marshal licence register, read directly rather than through an aggregator. Where a classification is the deciding factor we cite the statute — 19 CCR §905 and Health and Safety Code §13195.5 for automatic extinguishing systems — not a summary of it.
Code and standard
The standard itself, by edition, because editions differ in ways that decide outcomes. NFPA 25's sample-test trigger for fast-response sprinklers is 20 years in the 2011 edition and 25 in the 2023 edition. Which one applies is a question about what your jurisdiction has adopted, and we say so rather than pretending a web page settles it.
Quote and contract
Your documents, read closely, and compared against the contractor's own records where you have them. The contractor's inspection report is frequently the strongest evidence in a dispute and it is usually the document nobody re-reads.
Two things worth knowing.
Credentials move, and so do we.
Licence statuses expire, bonds lapse, and workers’ compensation policies get cancelled continuously. Every credential we surface carries the date it was last reconciled against the issuing authority. Where a credential is the deciding factor, verify it live at the source before you sign anything.
Absence is not evidence.
The CSLB master file excludes cancelled, revoked, and expired-non-renewable licences. A contractor missing from it may have lost a licence rather than never held one. We never render absence as “not found,” because for a product whose entire value is verification, that distinction is the product.
We will get things wrong. When we do we correct the page and say what changed. If you can point at a primary source that contradicts something here, that is the fastest way to change it — including if you are the contractor being described.
